Technical Dossier
The ROBICON Perfect Harmony series is a medium-voltage variable frequency drive (VFD) platform engineered for continuous-duty applications in heavy industry. Deployed extensively across petrochemical refineries, nuclear power auxiliary systems, offshore platforms, and large-scale chemical processing facilities, the Perfect Harmony architecture operates in the 2.3 kV to 13.8 kV range using a cascaded H-bridge (CHB) cell topology. This cell-based design provides inherent redundancy: individual power cells can be bypassed without shutting down the drive, a critical operational requirement in facilities where unplanned downtime carries significant safety and financial consequences. The series has accumulated decades of field installation hours in applications including induced draft fans, boiler feed pumps, compressors, and extruder drives — equipment categories where drive reliability directly governs plant throughput.
The Perfect Harmony platform was originally developed by Siemens Robicon (later rebranded as Siemens ROBICON following acquisition) and has undergone several distinct architectural generations. Early-generation systems used analog-dominant control boards with discrete backplane communication protocols proprietary to the platform. Mid-generation systems introduced digital signal processor (DSP)-based control cards and fiber-optic inter-cell communication, significantly improving noise immunity in high-voltage environments. The A1A363818.00M Communications Board belongs to the digital control generation, serving as the primary data exchange interface between the main controller and the cell power modules via the fiber-optic ring bus.
Later revisions introduced enhanced diagnostics, expanded fieldbus compatibility (Profibus-DP, Modbus RTU, DeviceNet), and improved EMC shielding on the PCB layer stack. Compatibility between generations is not universal: backplane connector pinouts, firmware handshake protocols, and fiber-optic transceiver specifications differ across hardware revisions. Sourcing replacement boards requires exact revision matching or confirmed cross-reference validation.
The following SKUs represent verified components within the ROBICON Perfect Harmony platform, organized by functional category. Each entry reflects a distinct hardware role within the drive system.

The ROBICON Perfect Harmony series has entered a mature-to-declining lifecycle phase. Siemens has progressively reduced active manufacturing support for earlier hardware revisions, and several board-level components — including the A1A363818.00M and its predecessor revisions — are no longer available through standard OEM distribution channels. DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of tested, pull-from-service, and new-old-stock (NOS) Perfect Harmony components sourced from decommissioned plant equipment, authorized surplus channels, and direct manufacturer overstock.
For facilities operating Perfect Harmony drives under long-term maintenance contracts or in jurisdictions where drive replacement is not operationally feasible, DriveKNMS provides lifecycle extension support: exact-revision board matching, firmware version documentation, and cross-reference validation against the installed drive's hardware revision record. Requests for obsolete or low-availability SKUs are processed individually with lead time estimates provided within 24 hours of inquiry.
Perfect Harmony communications and control boards operate within a high-frequency switching environment with significant conducted and radiated EMC exposure. DriveKNMS applies a multi-stage inspection and functional test protocol to all boards in this series prior to shipment.
Incoming inspection covers visual examination of PCB traces, solder joint integrity under magnification, component-level verification of critical ICs and passive components, and fiber-optic transceiver continuity testing. Functional testing is performed on a dedicated Perfect Harmony drive test bench that replicates the actual backplane bus environment, verifying communication handshake, data throughput integrity across the fiber-optic ring, and response to simulated fault conditions. Boards that pass functional testing are logged with test date, technician ID, and firmware version, and shipped with a test certificate. All units are packaged in anti-static shielding with foam cushioning rated for international freight handling.
