The Evolution of SINAMICS S120 Architecture

The first-generation Control Units (CU320) used CompactFlash-based firmware storage and DRIVE-CLiQ as the proprietary digital interface for connecting encoders, motor modules, and sensor modules. The CU320-2 DP and CU320-2 PN variants followed, adding PROFIBUS DP and PROFINET IO communication natively. The CU310-2 addressed single-axis applications with an integrated drive topology.
