The Evolution of 4000093 Architecture

The 4000093 cable assembly series was introduced alongside the original Tricon v9 and v10 controller generations, designed to interface with the 3000-series I/O modules (3703E, 3805E, 3721, etc.) via the Tricon Main Chassis and Expansion Chassis. Early revisions used a 37-pin D-sub connector standard on the field-termination side, with the assembly routing signals to the I/O module's front-panel connector. Subsequent hardware revisions introduced improved shielding specifications and revised strain-relief designs to address field failure modes identified in high-vibration environments (offshore platforms, compressor stations).

With the introduction of the Tricon v11 platform and later the Tricon CX (model 4351A/B), Schneider Electric (formerly Invensys, formerly Foxboro Eckardt) maintained backward compatibility for the 4000093 termination standard across the majority of analog and digital I/O module types, ensuring that existing field wiring infrastructure could be retained during controller upgrades.
