Technical Dossier
The Vibro-Meter UVC752 is a vibration processor module belonging to Vibro-Meter SA's VM600 machinery protection and condition monitoring platform — one of the most widely deployed vibration monitoring architectures in global heavy industry. The VM600 system, of which the UVC752 is a core signal processing card, is installed across critical rotating machinery applications including gas turbine protection systems in petrochemical complexes, steam turbine monitoring in nuclear power stations, compressor train surveillance in LNG terminals, and pump protection in offshore oil platforms. The UVC752 processes raw vibration transducer signals (velocity, acceleration, or displacement) and outputs conditioned measurements to the VM600 rack's communication backplane for relay to the plant DCS or safety instrumented system (SIS). Its role as a front-end signal conditioner makes it a non-replaceable component in any VM600-based machinery protection loop.
Vibro-Meter SA (now part of Meggitt SA, Sensing Systems division) introduced the VM600 platform in the mid-1990s as a modular, rack-based successor to earlier discrete vibration monitoring instruments. The UVC752 card occupies the signal conditioning layer of the VM600 architecture, sitting between the transducer input cards (such as the IOC4T or IOC4A) and the communication/relay output cards. Early VM600 racks used a parallel backplane bus; later revisions introduced a high-speed serial backplane compatible with Profibus-DP and Modbus RTU communication adapters. The UVC752 is compatible across VM600 rack generations, provided the rack firmware and RPS600 power supply specifications are matched. As the VM600 platform has entered its mature/end-of-active-production lifecycle, Meggitt/Vibro-Meter has transitioned new projects toward the VM600+ and MPC4 platforms. However, the installed base of VM600 systems in long-lifecycle facilities (nuclear, refinery, LNG) means the UVC752 remains in active demand for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) procurement globally. Long-term lifecycle support — including tested surplus, refurbished, and exchange units — is the primary sourcing pathway for this module.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly encountered modules within the Vibro-Meter VM600 machinery protection platform. Each entry reflects a distinct functional role within the rack architecture:
UVC752: Vibration signal processor card, velocity/acceleration/displacement input, VM600 rack.
UVC772: Dual-channel vibration processor with expanded dynamic range for high-speed machinery.
IOC4T: 4-channel transducer input card, supports eddy-current, velocity, and accelerometer inputs.
IOC4A: 4-channel accelerometer-specific input card with IEPE/ICP signal conditioning.
RLC16: 16-channel relay output card for alarm and trip signal distribution.
RPS600: Redundant power supply module for VM600 rack, dual-feed 24 VDC input.
AMC8: 8-channel analog output card, 4–20 mA, for DCS integration of vibration measurements.
TDI016: Tachometer/speed input card, 16-channel, for shaft speed and phase reference signals.
MPC4: Machinery protection controller card, integrates protection logic with VM600 I/O.
CMC16: Communication module card, Modbus RTU and Profibus-DP gateway for VM600 rack.
SBC116: Single-board controller card for standalone VM600 rack operation.
VM600-RACK6: 6-slot VM600 rack chassis with integrated backplane bus.
VM600-RACK12: 12-slot VM600 rack chassis, standard configuration for large turbine trains.
IOC4E: 4-channel eddy-current displacement input card, for shaft radial/axial position monitoring.
UVC762: Enhanced vibration processor card with onboard FFT spectrum analysis capability.
RLC8: 8-channel relay card, compact format for smaller VM600 rack configurations.
AMC4: 4-channel analog output card, 4–20 mA, entry-level DCS interface option.
TDI008: 8-channel tachometer input card for smaller machinery trains.
CMC8: 8-channel communication module, Modbus RTU, for reduced-scale VM600 installations.
The VM600 platform uses a proprietary high-speed backplane bus for inter-card communication. Quality verification for UVC752 and associated cards therefore requires rack-level functional testing, not bench-level component testing alone. DriveKNMS employs a dedicated VM600 test rack configured with reference IOC4T input cards, a calibrated vibration signal simulator (covering 0–200 mm/s velocity, 0–50 g acceleration, and 0–2000 µm displacement ranges), and a reference RPS600 power supply. Each UVC752 unit is tested for: channel-to-channel isolation integrity, full-scale output linearity across the 4–20 mA analog output range, alarm and trip relay actuation at configured setpoints, backplane communication handshake with CMC16 communication cards, and thermal stability across the 0–55°C operating envelope. Units that pass all functional gates are issued a DriveKNMS test certificate with serial number, test date, and firmware revision record.
