Technical Dossier
The YOKOGAWA CENTUM VP and its predecessor CS 3000 represent one of the most widely deployed Distributed Control System (DCS) platforms in global heavy industry. Installed across petrochemical complexes, nuclear power facilities, LNG terminals, offshore platforms, and refinery units, the CENTUM architecture has maintained a dominant position in process automation since the mid-1990s. The ATA4D-00 S2 is a 4-channel analog input module designed for field control station (FCS) I/O subsystems, accepting 4–20 mA signals with HART communication capability. It is a core component in both legacy CS 3000 and current CENTUM VP installations.
YOKOGAWA's CENTUM platform traces its lineage to the CENTUM XL (1993) and CENTUM CS (1995), which established the modular FCS architecture still in use today. The CS 3000 (released 1998) introduced the RIO (Remote I/O) bus and standardized the dual-redundant Vnet/IP communication backbone. CENTUM VP (2008) extended this architecture with Ethernet-based Vnet/IP, OPC-UA integration, and enhanced cybersecurity compliance (IEC 62443). The I/O module form factor — including the ATA4D-00 series — remained backward-compatible across CS 3000 and CENTUM VP, enabling phased migration without full hardware replacement. As of 2026, CENTUM VP R6 is the current production release; CS 3000 has entered end-of-life support, making spare parts sourcing critical for operators maintaining legacy installations.

Communication & Power
Each YOKOGAWA module processed by DriveKNMS undergoes a structured inspection protocol specific to the CENTUM backplane and Vnet/IP bus architecture. Analog input modules including the ATA4D-00 S2 are tested for channel-to-channel isolation integrity, HART signal pass-through fidelity, and 4–20 mA linearity across the full input range. Digital modules are verified for contact resistance and switching latency. CPU modules are powered up in an isolated CENTUM VP test rack and validated for Vnet/IP node registration and function block execution. All modules are inspected for capacitor aging, corrosion on edge connectors, and firmware label consistency before dispatch.
