Technical Dossier
The Fuji Electric MICREX-F series is a modular programmable logic controller (PLC) platform engineered for continuous-process and discrete manufacturing environments. Deployed extensively in chemical plants, oil refineries, power generation facilities, and nuclear auxiliary systems across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, the MICREX-F platform established Fuji Electric's position as a tier-one supplier of industrial control hardware. Its rack-based architecture, deterministic scan cycle, and broad I/O density made it the preferred choice for plant engineers requiring long-term hardware stability in safety-critical installations. The RREG0A is a register/communication interface module within this platform, providing structured data exchange between the CPU backplane and peripheral subsystems.
The MICREX-F series was introduced in the late 1980s as Fuji Electric's response to demand for a scalable, rack-mounted PLC capable of handling both high-speed discrete I/O and analog process control within a single backplane. Early revisions used parallel backplane communication with fixed-slot addressing; later generations introduced serial inter-module buses that reduced wiring complexity and improved noise immunity in high-EMI environments such as arc furnace control rooms and variable-frequency drive panels.
The platform evolved through several hardware generations: the original MICREX-F (F-series), the enhanced MICREX-SX (SX-series), and the current MICREX-NX (NX-series). Each generation maintained backward compatibility at the rack level for a defined transition window, but module-level substitution between generations requires engineering validation. The RREG0A and its contemporaries belong to the mature F-series generation, which entered end-of-active-production status. Fuji Electric and authorized distributors continue to supply spare modules to support installed base maintenance under long-term service agreements.
Compatibility considerations: MICREX-F modules operate on 5 VDC backplane logic with proprietary bus arbitration. They are not electrically or logically interchangeable with MICREX-SX or MICREX-NX modules without a gateway or chassis adapter. Plants migrating from F-series to SX/NX must perform a full I/O mapping exercise and validate ladder logic conversion using Fuji Electric's migration toolkit.
The following SKUs represent verified modules within the Fuji Electric MICREX-F platform. Each entry reflects the module's primary functional role within the control architecture.

The MICREX-F series has entered the mature/end-of-life phase of its product lifecycle. Fuji Electric has transitioned active development resources to the MICREX-SX and MICREX-NX platforms. As a result, new production of F-series modules including the RREG0A is discontinued through standard distribution channels.
DriveKNMS maintains a dedicated inventory of tested MICREX-F spare modules sourced through authorized secondary market channels, decommissioned plant buybacks, and long-term warehousing programs. Our procurement team cross-references each incoming unit against Fuji Electric's original part numbering schema to eliminate counterfeit and non-conforming substitutes. For plants operating MICREX-F systems under 10–20 year maintenance horizons — common in nuclear auxiliary, petrochemical, and municipal water treatment installations — DriveKNMS provides a reliable supply chain alternative to OEM end-of-life notices.
We also support customers requiring functional equivalents or migration path analysis when original F-series modules are no longer obtainable. Contact our technical team with your rack configuration and CPU firmware version for a compatibility assessment.
MICREX-F modules, including register interface units such as the RREG0A, incorporate proprietary backplane bus logic that requires specialized test procedures beyond standard continuity and power-on checks. DriveKNMS applies the following verification protocol to all MICREX-F inventory:
All units that pass the full protocol are issued a DriveKNMS test certificate and are eligible for our standard warranty coverage.
