Its modular 19-inch rack design supports mixed-function configurations, enabling plant engineers to build protection systems tailored to turbines, compressors, pumps, motors, and gearboxes within a single chassis. The 3500 platform is certified to API 670 (5th Edition) — the mandatory machinery protection standard for critical rotating equipment in hydrocarbon processing — and carries SIL 1 and SIL 2 ratings under IEC 61511 for safety-instrumented system applications. The 3500 platform succeeded the earlier Bently Nevada 3300 and 7200 Series systems, which used analog signal conditioning with limited digital communication capability.
