Technical Dossier
The C300 was introduced as part of Honeywell's Experion PKS platform in the early 2000s, succeeding the TDC 3000 and PlantScape systems. Early C300 deployments used Series A I/O modules with CIOM-A (C300 I/O Module) backplane communication. Subsequent hardware revisions introduced Series B and Series C modules with enhanced diagnostics, expanded channel density, and improved EMI tolerance.
The C300 communicates with field I/O via CHARM (Characterization Module) technology in newer Experion deployments, but legacy CIOM-based I/O remains the dominant installed architecture in brownfield sites. Compatibility between Series A and Series B modules requires firmware alignment and backplane revision verification. The C300 controller itself (CC-PCF901) operates on a dual-redundant pair configuration, with each controller node supporting up to 40 CIOM-A I/O links. Migration paths from TDC 3000 HPM modules to C300 I/O are documented under Honeywell's Universal I/O (UIO) migration framework. As of 2024, the C300 platform is in its mature/sustained phase — Honeywell continues to supply spare parts and firmware updates, but new feature development is concentrated on the Experion PKS Highly Integrated Virtual Environment (HIVE) architecture.

Power Supply Modules
C300 modules received by DriveKNMS undergo a structured inspection and functional verification process prior to dispatch. Each module is visually inspected for backplane connector integrity, capacitor condition, and PCB contamination. CIOM-A communication modules are bench-tested using a dedicated Experion PKS test rack to verify FTE link establishment, I/O channel response, and diagnostic register output. Analog input modules (HART-enabled variants) are calibrated against a reference signal source across the full 4–20 mA range. Digital I/O modules are cycled through all 32 channels under load to confirm switching integrity. Modules that fail any test stage are quarantined and not returned to inventory. All tested units ship with a DriveKNMS inspection record documenting test date, technician ID, and pass criteria.
