MCGS TPC Series Technical Notes

The MCGS TPC Series represents one of the most widely deployed Human-Machine Interface (HMI) product lines in Chinese industrial automation. Manufactured by Beijing MCGS Technology Co., Ltd. (北京昆仑通态), TPC Series touch panels are installed across heavy industrial sectors including petrochemical plants, coal processing facilities, power generation stations, water treatment infrastructure, and steel manufacturing lines. The series spans display sizes from 4.3 inches to 15.6 inches, with resistive and capacitive touch variants, and supports a broad range of industrial communication protocols including RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, CAN, and USB. The TPC1061Ti specifically is a 10.1-inch widescreen resistive touch panel with a 1024×600 resolution TFT LCD, ARM Cortex-A8 processor, and runs the MCGS Embedded configuration software environment. Its rugged aluminum front panel and IP65 front-face protection rating make it suitable for panel-mount deployment in harsh industrial enclosures.

The Evolution of TPC Series Architecture

The MCGS TPC product line has undergone three distinct architectural generations since its introduction in the early 2000s. The first generation (TPC7062K, TPC7062KX) used MIPS-based processors with Windows CE 5.0 and supported only serial communication. The second generation introduced ARM9 processors, expanded RAM to 128MB, and added Ethernet connectivity — models such as the TPC7062Ti and TPC1061Ti belong to this transitional tier. The third generation (TPC series with H suffix or Pro designation) migrated to ARM Cortex-A8/A9 platforms running Linux-based MCGS Embedded OS, with support for MQTT, OPC-UA, and 4G/Wi-Fi modules. Compatibility between generations is limited: configuration projects built in MCGS SCADA for older CE-based panels cannot be directly migrated to Linux-based panels without conversion. Spare parts and replacement units for first- and second-generation TPC panels are increasingly sourced from the secondary market, as MCGS has shifted production focus to the TPC series Pro and eMT equivalent lines.
