Technical Dossier
The FX2 series succeeded the original FX and FX0 platforms, introducing an enhanced instruction set, extended program memory (up to 8,000 steps), and improved high-speed counter performance (up to 60 kHz). The base unit integrates both CPU and I/O into a single housing, with expansion achieved via the FX2-EX extension bus. Communication capability was extended through dedicated adapter modules supporting RS-232C, RS-485, and early CC-Link implementations.
The FX2 architecture uses a parallel ladder logic execution model with a scan cycle typically between 0.08 µs and 0.18 µs per step. Power supply variants include 100–240 VAC and 24 VDC input models. Output configurations span relay (MR suffix), transistor sink (MT suffix), and transistor source (MS suffix) types. The FX2 series has been superseded by the FX2N, FX3U, and FX5U generations, each introducing expanded memory, faster CPUs, and native Ethernet connectivity. However, the FX2 platform remains in active service at thousands of installed sites where full system replacement is not economically viable, creating sustained demand for spare and replacement modules.
The following SKUs represent verified, commonly sourced models within the Mitsubishi FX2 series. Models are classified by functional category.

Analog & Special Function Extension Modules
Communication & Networking Modules
FX2 series base units integrate CPU, power supply, and I/O on a shared PCB assembly with a proprietary backplane bus. Quality verification for these units requires functional testing beyond basic power-on checks. DriveKNMS applies the following test protocol to all FX2 units prior to shipment:
